[jgarber] looks like there are sufficient use-cases to try solving this problem. I do like the Bridgy Publish use-case myself as I have definitely struggled with marking up my photo posts so that one resolution is shown on my website, and another much higher resolution (linked) is what is sent to Bridgy to POSSE to other sites

KevinMarks, rel=directory would be correct for sites *in* the webring that are pointing to the webring's home page. Not sure what is the corresponding link relation the other direction

nenuser9, that's an interesting use-case to automatically identify next/prev links to other members of a web ring. what if there are multiple webrings linked from a site, would it be useful to distinguish them or does it not matter for your use-case if any random webring link is followed?

no by brainfart I really mean a "brainstorm" that doesn't have much thought put into it, which is literally what a lot of folks have done in microformats in the past, to no productive end

aaronpk, what you're seeing is how we "repair" the microformats wiki when someone jumps in with an h-thing-i-think-is-super-clever page

this is what happens to things that start as a brainstorm only, without doing the prerequisite research and documentation thereof

tw2113, that's a bit of a strawman, even if you meant it humorously. the post is blaming capitalism as one force pushing against decentralization, standards, open formats & APIs, and they’re not wrong. capitalism, in particular VC (what the C stands for), does have a tendency to fund (incentivize) things that "capture value" which is often a euphemism for or implies centralization, proprietary formats, and bizdev APIs

and whether something is an allergy to avoid (to what extent? life-threatening or bad but recoverable discomfort or minor swelling?), or religious / other ethical choices, or personal health / fitness optimization, or even political (boycotts and such)
