capjamesg, it's entirely possible that if a new forum is initially populated with people from the current chat / discuss channels, that it will maintain a lot of the overall positive/welcoming culture, which may provide a foundation/baseline for self-moderation

at best in such cases the "original" set of positive interested folks move on to something else, often something hosted by a silo (e.g. there was a mass migration from phpBB forums to various Facebook Groups in the 2000s and 2010s)

sensiblemn: it can depend on the phase of a movement. in the beginning most movements start as a reaction to some (set of) pain points, and thus a declaration of independence of sorts. only later, when the movement begins to gain its own self-supporting identity does it have enough to describe in primarily positive framing, like a constitution.

tantek jgmac1106 super interesting conversation about following! No time for it now, but I’d love to continue this discussion more and see if we can take those lessons and move that forward in a positive direction. I’d love to see how Indigenous for iOS might be able to help move that “following” people goal forward (although that might require buy in from Aperture too, haha!)

strugee: tantek left you a message 3 days, 23 hours ago: looks like you found your answer re: Google and microformats? They definitely still do parse microformats, question is where they are with parsing mf2, since they have unofficially made positive remarks about it for a few years, and may just be waiting for some measure of critical mass (which has accelerated in the past 2 years)
