Nevermind that "not everyone can login" because that's the point. One reason those Web 2.0 sites were primarily positive is that they were dominated by a set of positive optimistic folks with shared values

I’m starting to think one thing one creative / development effort we could do as a community (or even as individuals) would be to rebuild all the primarily positive Web 2.0 "social content" sites except as aggregators with zero accounts, and 100% web sign-in + webmentions to contribute content

tbh I'm ok with folks who are "default angry" on the public internet deciding to not join the community. such folks typically require A LOT of emotional labor which either places an undue burden on volunteer folks here to keep things positive and constructive, or worse, exhaust everyone to the point of driving out folks who are here for contructive reasons

I do think there is some gamification potential for reinforcing positive behaviors with our own websites

^ we have that for some guidance for good approaches to bringing people into the community in a positive way. Could further discuss such approaches in #indieweb-meta as well since it's community related rather than explicitly about our personal sites. My original question was about the personal publishing practice of POSSEing to Twitter, like remaining good use-cases which still makes sense to discuss here

re: "social norm to not talk about it" — rather among Slack instances/channels I'm in, there is a positive encouragement to stay focused on specific topics, that way everyone can choose if they want to read/chat about that topic or not. There are plenty of channels in plenty of Slacks/discords I know of with "politics" or related channels. So I don't share that experience of "no persons land". Rather, I think in a very positive way, communitie

I'm going to have to investigate this Tantek business this weekend. I used to follow Tantek from my website, I'm positive...now I can look up his posts and his profile, his profile says I'm at "follow request sent..." but if I try to undo the follow request so I can try again, it throws an internal server error that ends with telling me "actor was deleted." I suspect I have wound up with a weird cached state.
