blog archive format is a data format proposed by Manton Reece for the export of a blog, based on a zip file and top level HTML h-feed inside, that is supported by micro.blog https://indieweb.org/blog_archive_format

Good point yesterday [tantek] about the safety / owning your content appeal of static files. That is kind of what I was curious about… How can we help people feel they have control of their files without the technical hurdles? Something I think about with Micro.blog export and syncing options.

I haven’t done anything quite like that… Micro.blog onboarding could definitely be improved a lot.

Like a 10 page interactive series of pages with pretty images that introduces you to micro.blog for example.

I don’t know of a self-hosted equivalent to micro.blog, sorry. But if you’re going for self-hosting and don’t want to spend a lot of time on configuring the CMS, wordpress with the indieweb plugin seems like an okay option. You could ask around in #indieweb-wordpress about that.

micro.blog seem to be cool, but does it have self-hosted version? My main preference is to own data locally

IndieWeb isn’t any one platform, there’s a bunch of things you can try for hosting your site. micro.blog is a pretty decent way to get started.

AFAIK, a lot of people on https://micro.blog aren't developers
