Yeah, they have incremental builds (I have that running), but it's not particularly great. A simple use case would be webmentions. It would be great to rebuild a single page when a webmention comes in for it, rather than having to trigger a rebuild for _everything_. Incremental builds get you part way there, but it still requires a full cache diff, so it still takes 2-3 minutes. From what I understand about the new NextJS features, I would be

Latest news from NextJS looks interesting. Too tired to really wrap my head around the whole "stable incremental static regeneration" thing (what a mouthful!) but the ability to rebuild static pages singularly could solve a few IndieWeb/SSG issues. Particularly once they add the webhook trigger that's promised 🙂 Will be interesting to see what people make https://nextjs.org/blog/next-9-5

Ah yeah. Well really depends how you want to do it. You can do a form that submits to a nextjs api page or client side js

[grantcodes]: cool. that seems to only work when nextjs is building the page that is being sent to the client though, right? i'd like the functionality of the nextjs server to send an api request when the client clicks a button.

lo! don't know if this is the right channel (found it through google). i'm currently developing a web app with nextjs for personal use, i'm new to web development. i am making some http requests to the backend i'm writing and i was wondering if it's ever done in a way that the server-side of a web app (i.e. next) makes the request for the client. i found that it can be done build time with

↩️ We’ve implemented it on a couple of websites, but it’s not baked into our editorial tools yet. Proof is a headless CMS and we build custom dashboard and content creation tools on one side of it for our clients and NextJS-powered websites on the other.
