[manton.org] Great to see WordPress.com’s support for ActivityPub. Following WordPress blogs from Micro.blog looks good, although @-mentioning Micro.blog from within WordPress isn’t working for me. I’ve been testing and reviewing the code, will make any tweaks I can so everything is... (https://www.manton.org/2023/10/11/great-to-see.html)

[manton] interesting, we are having trouble getting @-mentions working from BridgyFed -> Mastodon. Any tips on how you got that working for http://Micro.blog -> Mastodon would be greatly appreciated! https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/493

I can @-mention from http://WordPress.com to Mastodon too, but doesn’t seem to work with ActivityPub usernames hosted on http://Micro.blog.

Congrats [pfefferle] on http://WordPress.com supporting ActivityPub! Now I just need to figure out why I can’t @-mention people from WordPress → http://Micro.blog…

Hey ActivityPub nerds… 🙂 So Mastodon recently added “Translate” links to posts that (I assume) don’t have a language set. It adds a lot of clutter because I don’t need to translate from English to English. I’m finally looking into this so I can update http://Micro.blog to spit out whatever JSON Mastodon wants.

[pdx.masto.host/@agnes] #WriteFreely was my first #indieweb #fediverse choice but it turns out that the "enable federation" feature is the same "whole separate instance" setup as micro.blog, which isn't what I wanted. After digging a bit deeper, I learned that what I'm aiming for is called #POSSE:... (https://pdx.masto.host/@agnes/111163736169836072)

[snarfed] That AT Proto bridge is very cool. I tried it from http://Micro.blog and it worked. But I tried it on Mastodon and get an error that usernames can only contain letters, numbers, etc. I wonder if Mastodon 4.2 has made this more strict, so the dot in domains via Bridgy won’t work?

[manton.org] When we first added ActivityPub support to Micro.blog years ago, I used the phrase “Mastodon-compatible” because I was worried that “ActivityPub” would be confusing for normal people. It now seems time to adopt “fediverse” as a term throughout our UI instead. Curious... (https://www.manton.org/2023/09/25/when-we-first.html)
