I think what would help is to leave the intro and pull out each section into a different page, and then link to each step from the getting started page. That page is sooo overwhelming, but if it were used as a hub, linking to other pages, it'd be a lot easier to follow and work through for a newbie

One is to offer to provide the user with summary stats of what you're learning from their usage for their own curiosity / interest. That helps demystify "what are you tracking" and shows good faith in providing user value and not just being "extractive"
