I'd base the default on whether they are using their own domain or not. Own domain? Append original post permalinks by default with their domain. Otherwise yes I get it, http://micro.blog more like a posting client to the services, a la Hootsuite

One of my originals goals in http://Micro.blog was for the cross-posting to Twitter (years ago) to feel like native tweets, no extra metadata or links. But I think it’s time for some kind of pref to control that. Really should be up to the user how they want to use it.

In #indieweb-dev because I do think the details of how it was built, standards vs proprietary, open vs closed, kickstarter vs angel funded, one engineer vs hiring a big team, etc would be useful to illustrate how many bad choices T2 made in comparison, despite starting long after http://micro.blog

[manton] have you ever tried posting to a Friendica group from http://micro.blog, eg https://venera.social/profile/activitypubblueskybridge/conversations ? you follow it, then mention it in a post, and it reposts that post

[snarfed] FYI to follow up on that languages discussion last week, I ended up adding contentMap to my ActivityPub JSON to make Mastodon happy, plus a new http://Micro.blog setting for what to use as your default language. I still think Mastodon needs to be improved here, but for now at least the posts look better.

[pfefferle] By the way, I added that `url` field earlier and @-mentions from http://WP.com works great to http://Micro.blog now. I decided to just make the `id` and `url` match for now, until I fully understand how other clients might use it.
