↩️ Hugo on Azure or netlify with content pulled from codeberg and then federated with activitypub and/or webmention? Hm. Turtles all the way down, need to do more reading

i had some issues with events on my site. like aaronpk, i use the event start time as the publish date for sorting and for the URL and that required special handling on my hugo setup.

i'd like a program to fetch that URL (i can include it at the bottom of the article) and scan for replies/reactions, then convert those to webmentions, send them to my already-existing endpoint (webmentiond), and exit before CI runs `hugo build`.

also interested to know if anyone else uses SSG (particularly Hugo) to render webmentions without adding scripts.

finally got webmentions to render on my static hugo site without JS; they get updated every time the site is re-built in CI. Now I just need to get webmentions to trigger a rebuild...

So a run from a few minutes ago too 3m8s to build the site on Netlify (68s was Hugo) to generate ~25000 files and then a further 4m55s to deploy it live

I do think that my incremental build system might _technically_ be a "static site generator" because it renders md to html. But it doesn't fulfill the same value proposition as hugo, so I agree with Murray that it might be useful to think of some of these infrastructure-required things as _not the same thing_.

well gatsby needs it as it has huge overheads in other ways. Hugo does rebuild in real time locally, but i suppose that is on an ssd with lots of RAM rather than on whetever timeslice you get on default hosting

and when you start pushing features like data sets, custom queries, etc., you can slow hugo down plenty 😂
