one use-case I have had for tracking "finished reading up to a page number" is if/when I see a book I am reading at another location, if I know the page number I have finished, then I can pick up that other instance of the book and keep reading, log what page number I get to and when I return home, resume reading at that page number. imagine friends/family with an overlap in books visiting each other,
