there are a number of those! for most people, we recommend using an existing service like http://micro.blog, or existing plugin for popular web servers like WordPress, Drupal, etc

old post from March [kimberlyhirsh] — lots of follow-up since then including some thoughts on iterating on the principles etc. also misses user-centric things like http://micro.blog

This micro.blog is being advertised at indieweb.org and indieforums.net. It's a paid service, $5 a month. I thought that when I come to this corner of the internet, I'm not expecting to see this kind of business model

[@SteveDuncan] Ok, after using micro.blog for a while, and learning that it doesn't seem to support tags or publishing tags to Mastodon I've decided otherwise stick with Wordpress for a bit longer, and pursue going back to self-hosting.... (https://mastodon.social/@SteveDuncan/113217225933867709)
