I’m thinking of starting a small indieweb meeting at UMD. https://indieweb.org/ There are lots of good reasons for students and faculty to want to cultivate their own place on the web. Maybe we could get together in the evening once a month to chat, experiment?

tantek: Ha! I can completely agree with that. I need to start playing around more on the web dev side of things to get my hands dirty but optimization just makes sense when you're using a small slice of the bigger JS library pie

@jonbecker @realdlnorman the web is an event all the time. There’s an established IndieWeb group already, join them? There was also a small crew that gathered at Davidson College 2 years ago.

yes, I think I can help document, once I understand a little bit more. I'm currently already volunteering for a small web project, but plus keep me in mind.

is that if you have your friends on a web of trust, but then for people who aren't on your web of trust you require that they do some small payment that goes directly to you (but you have the option of refunding if you do trust the person)

timbl: Hi! It's an honor to be in such a small room with you :) May I ask your thoughts about IPFS? It seems like it can take the web to its full potential as a distributed system
