Welcome, cwkildegaard! There's a variety of people here from around the world. It does lean a bit more towards developers, for which we have the indieweb-dev channel, but we try to keep this main channel user-focused, talking about things people are doing on their sites or want to do. Quickest way to get started is to stake out a corner of the web for a personal site, whether it's a micro.blog site, neocities, or something else

[edit] If you are looking for a service where you can host a blog without coding, there are many like https://bearblog.dev, https://omg.lol, and https://micro.blog

If you haven't already, consider taking a look at http://Micro.blog, which is the most IndieWeb social site around at the moment

[Zegnat] it seems to skip that all together. I followed the guide and did github, but it seems that when I log in it goes directly to micro.blog (as it should, if I understand correctly) but the issue is that micro.blog then says I'm signed in JTR (which is my micro.blog username) and not the domain as I enter it. maybe if I put the micro.blog address before I registered the domain

You should be able to use https://taonaw.com/ directly to login with on indieweb.org. Micro.blog has native support for IndieAuth. So the indieweb login should go straight to your Micro.blog interface, no need to have GitHub involved.

let me be more specific. I changed it to taonaw.com on the github profile. Then on indieweb, I tried www.taonaw.com - this gives me the same issues, telling me I'm trying to sign in as www.taonaw.com on micro.blog (it opens micro.blog). If I drop the www, the indieweb site says it's not a valid URL

Ah, that error happens when http://Micro.blog is confused about whether the blog is associated with your current account. Does it work if you drop the “www” and just use http://taonaw.com?

@JTR Hello! Happy to help… I sign into the IndieWeb wiki with http://Micro.blog too, so it should be possible.
