As we grow in number of active chat participants (and active chats) I think we should consider explicitly guiding "Good morning" or "How's it going" posts to the informal #indieweb-chat channel instead of the #indieweb channel or others. While informal and friendly (and appreciate the community-positive role it plays), doing so in logged channels adds unnecessary/inapplicable noise to the logs for anyone reading them later.

tbh I'm ok with folks who are "default angry" on the public internet deciding to not join the community. such folks typically require A LOT of emotional labor which either places an undue burden on volunteer folks here to keep things positive and constructive, or worse, exhaust everyone to the point of driving out folks who are here for contructive reasons

We had one reported positive Covid case (as of this past Monday) of an IWC SD participant. Has anyone else who was at IWC SD felt any respiratory symptoms since the camp? Covid incubation times would mean the earliest you would have felt it is maybe Tuesday or Wednesday but certainly by today if you got it at the camp.

yes the emoji thing for HWC/IWC cities is purely meant as a positive encouragement / gamification thing to start and keep organizing in your city (and posting photos!) even if only one other person shows up. It makes a difference to new folks showing up from cities who may even just want to meet 1-2 people in person with similar interests

Zegnat the example is important IMO because if a new person A shows up here, says only on topic or positive or neutral things. Then if new people B, C, D ... Z show up and start harassing that person then we need to deal with it
