I use the twitter-to-mf2 shim so this is actually rendering them from their h-entry representation, which means I can embed non-twitter h-entrys just as easily

so when i display the published date of comments, i'm thinking that if the timezone is "Z" or "+0000", then instead of using that timezone, I use the timezone of my post

one of the reasons I use it is because I know they've done a good job of isolating all the user accounts and making sure things can't eat up all the resources

the only thing i use atom/rss for is podcast feeds because that's the industry standard for it and unlikely to change. also the only reason i feel comfortable sharing that link is because I have an XSLT file on it so that it actually looks decent when viewed in a browser as opposed to sending people a link to a pile of XML. basically making the XML file the primary content rather than a side file.

i use background queues for stuff where the tradeoff is in user experience. like if i make a post on my site and then i want to send webmentions, posse to multiple locations, etc, if the form I submit had to wait until all that was done before I saw the post it would be terrible. so I put all that on a background queue.

right now I prioritize uid, then use url if uid is not present, and if neither is present, I hash the content and use that. that's what I use as the unique identifier internally in order to know whether to update an old post or add a new post

that's why I use things like gmail (to send and receive email from my domain), google analytics, etc. and have built indieweb things like IndieAuth (auth as a service), and pingback.me (pingback+webmention as a service) since those are not part of your identity, just a service that can be used
