(lots more in the overall microformats ecosystem, but hard to find motivation for me)

and we've been working hard in #microformats to steer folks away from that use of abbr (out of date wiki pages not withstanding :( )

here is my argument "If I can write code to parse microformats after only about 6 months of learnin python, HTML parsing can't be that hard"

Trying to ship microformats with WordPress? Ha! Talk with the crowd here and you will hear how hard it is to get WordPress to ship anything ;)

honestly the most fun with indieweb I have because I can work on my own software and can use open source stuff for the hard parts (like the microformats parser, or posting to facebook/twitter)

often the implicit expectation here is, if you're sophisticated enough to be authoring microformats yourself, you want to try hard to consider your own site canonical in general, not a silo

when I consume microformats I do so from the parsed object, so it's kind of hard to find the "first h-feed" because it may be a child of any object at any depth

miklb, that is in part because different consumers might look for different data points. There are no hard requirements. Your microformats “fail” when the application you are trying to feed the data to needs more.

most of the hard part of consuming microformats isn't actually related to HTML at all. it's handling the variations in where things like the author appear in the data structure.
