having jekyll pull from an alternate data store shouldn’t be too difficult from what I’ve looked at. They still don’t have a great hooks system for plugins, so it would require a lot of monkey patching, but totally doable

I think both hreflang="" on <a> and hreflang="" on lnk rel-alternate as well as lang="" within the page itself all serves their purpose depending on what setup one is going for :)

if rel="alternate" works on the page level it means I can’t include the translation links on feed pages? That sounds annoying. I will need to put some research in when I get back from my vacation

tantek ah, seeing the "h-feed" now on some of those linked pages. Seems way easier to get the <link rel="alternate" Atom & RSS feeds than debugging yet another parser...

WordPress generates slugs from the core 'title' field, which is what's in the <h1> too. The Yoast plugin replaces the <title> if you enter an alternate SEO title (and fills in the og:crap)

in regards to the pinging – in practice it has turned out that lots more mechanisms than the one standardized in 0.3 were used and even 0.3 documented alternate mechanisms – so feels like one spec isn't enough for the "notify-a-hub" part
