KartikPrabhu well, my webmention implementation is also really half-baked, and I'm also looking for a compelling reason to finish it vs pursuing alternate mechanisms which don't explicitly recreate the problems of the previous systems.

aaronpk: I'm working on php-mf2 rel alternate parsing. In http://microformats.org/wiki/microformats2-parsing#parse_a_hyperlink_element_for_rel_microformats it says the key 'text' should be the text content, if any. What's an example of a rel having a text value?

rel="alternate" is useful in conjuction with other properties. With lang it is a version in a differnet language. With type="application/atom+xml" it is an Atom feed etc...

Even if the platform you're using doesn't support some form of export, you can use some well-tested tools to extract everything as MF2, and then use that to re-publish to an alternate platform.
