  • hi! idk what to say lol. been interested in the concept of an indie internet recently and contributing to one. webmaster for a radio station but never built a website or app before from scratch, familiar with front end dev and a little with nextjs but hoping to learn more here !

  • I like that micropub preview talk from yesterday. I'm still fond of my way of doing it but has it's issues - still never released a new version of it. In the static site generator world there is starting to be a little bit of work around around preview links by netlify, nextjs, gatsby etc.

  • Yeah, they have incremental builds (I have that running), but it's not particularly great. A simple use case would be webmentions. It would be great to rebuild a single page when a webmention comes in for it, rather than having to trigger a rebuild for _everything_. Incremental builds get you part way there, but it still requires a full cache diff, so it still takes 2-3 minutes. From what I understand about the new NextJS features, I would be

  • _That said_, I'm now running up against some limitations with this model and have been toying with the idea of switching to NextJS; it's similar to Gatsby, it will still slot into my deployment pipeline the same way, and it still serves static pages. But it has some nice hybridisation and can build pages on demand, so there's a bit more flexibliity. I'll definitely stick with Craft in a headless/decoupled setup though; their authoring tools are
