  • Ah yeah. Well really depends how you want to do it. You can do a form that submits to a nextjs api page or client side js

  • pcarrier[d]: in relation to SSR, nextjs introduced that feature a few years ago making it a topic. Astro pioneered it too, but it doesnt compare in popularity

  • Only if those dynamic features are critical. I'm working on a personal music collection microsite at the moment, and the main page has a sort function. I'm building in NextJS, so React. If you have JS enabled, the sort function works; if you don't, the page just falls back to being sorted in a specific way and doesn't render the sort toggle

  • NextJS: Best bits are the modularity of build options. Any given page can be statically rendered, server rendered, a mixture, etc. It's not as modular as Astro, but it makes it very powerful, and gives you the best of both worlds. Cons are still React, and I personally find it overly opinionated about things like its own routing and image components

  • Latest news from NextJS looks interesting. Too tired to really wrap my head around the whole "stable incremental static regeneration" thing (what a mouthful!) but the ability to rebuild static pages singularly could solve a few IndieWeb/SSG issues. Particularly once they add the webhook trigger that's promised 🙂 Will be interesting to see what people make https://nextjs.org/blog/next-9-5

  • [social.yesterweb.org/@triptych] I am more and more convinced that the only reason folks are not taking advantage of the incredible power and expressivity of vanilla HTML, CSS, JS, and SVG is because they are simply not aware of it, and things like React , Tailwind, and Nextjs are acting as shortcuts that... • In terms of static CMS, there's also Netlify CMS https://www.netlifycms.org/, which has the added bonus of working on Netlify's free hosting (plus anywhere else, but you can be sure of that support lasting for a while :D) and has a pretty quick installation setup. You still need a static site generator under the hood, but they have templates for Hugo, 11ty, NextJS, and quite a few others
