Ahmad: it's been so long since i set that up, but i'm pretty sure i just found a tutorial on how to have the wiki URLs at the top level and followed it. this looks like about what we have set up https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Short_URL/Nginx

sknebel the flask-micropub seems to be kind of user error: I'm proxying to the app at the moment, w/ http and nginx handles the https; the redirect_url therefore becomes http and this seem to generate a redirect loop

getting rid of the thousands of generated images in the same folder where the originals live to block access to originals and only allow downsized; apparently this is incredibly problematic to achieve with regexes in nginx
