I've still failed in my 2018 assignment to make more diverse friends in person. Of course, I've failed in my personal assignment to make more friends in general...it's been a tough few years.

^ we have that for some guidance for good approaches to bringing people into the community in a positive way. Could further discuss such approaches in #indieweb-meta as well since it's community related rather than explicitly about our personal sites. My original question was about the personal publishing practice of POSSEing to Twitter, like remaining good use-cases which still makes sense to discuss here

thanks aciccarello. part of this is trying to do at least some additional work to be explicitly inclusive, rather than just "default welcoming". it takes work to shift a community to be more diverse and heterogeneous and I for one think it's worth organizer time & effort to do so

[tantek] I think an explicit recommendation to invite people of different backgrounds would be a good reminder. But I'm squarely in the majority of most demographics so I'm probably not the best judge.

If someone finds this community via Twitter, that's a good thing right?

There are definitely hashtags you can use which will trigger a bunch of bots to retweet you, and while I haven't really explicitly used that tactic, it's there to use if anyone wishes to consider doing so
