  • Thanks for the information. I'll have a look at that Craft plugin, especially helpful as it's PHP-based.

  • But yeah, from a PHP perspective, that sounds like it would do everything you need: an endpoint for people to target, a post-publish script to send out webmentions, and some way to get the data from incoming mentions (which requires you to open the source page and use microformats on that page to find the content of the mention, including stuff like type)

  • This meant that, yeah, I was outsourcing the endpoints to http://webmention.io (and I was also manually sending). It wasn't a great setup, so I dropped it, and now fetch data from http://webmention.io directly during my front-end build pipeline, which is completely different to what you're trying to do 😉

  • I am trying to work out what I need to do to support this in my PHP/Laravel/Filament system. I can build a database schema, add an API endpoint to receive mentions and set a blog post post-publish script to ping out mentions to other sites. I am wondering what I am missing.

  • I'm just trying to understand how http://webmention.io fits in the picture, if the end goal is them in a database in Craft… Is it missing the endpoint to post a webmention to.

  • Tbc, I don't currently use the Craft plugin. I'm just aware of it, and as a form of saving webmentions outside of http://wm.io so figured I'd bring it. (If anything, the Craft plugin would work better for me, I just haven't got around to installing it; it's newer than my setup 😄 )

  • Yeah, it basically handles incoming data conversion to Craft's "Entry" data structure, which is stored in a database. (It also does sending and updating and stuff, but that's extra to this 😄)

  • What does the WebMention plugin do? I guess Craft stores the data in a database.

  • It seems there are a lot of implementations using https://webmention.io and blog posts about *sending* a WebMention, but nothing really about accepting them and storing them!
