Good morning everyone! I made a webmention-powered forum - www.indieforums.net. I ran across news.indieweb.org a few weeks ago and that inspired the idea. I am *not* a programmer, so I'm hoping it works ok once it's more than just me testing it 🙂

the software is a bit of a mess (and a bit iffy license-wise sadly), but it works well enough to actually use for events

Thank you sparseMatrix and snarfed. I will add fail2ban, and I’ve already turned on unattended-upgrades (but not sure if my config settings are good). When I first set it up it used to say OpenSSH for port 22 when I did ‘ufw status’ but now I’ve denied that and instead opened another port for my SSH, but it doesn’t say OpenSSH any more. It works… but maybe that port could be open for other things too?

Now I remembered why I forked the @withknown repository on GitHub. It's because I knew I was missing some pull requests; one to produce a web.config file so that it works with IIS,and the other is a Chocolatey script to install it and all its prereqs.

cool idea), and there doesn't seem to be very many. I like TheOldReader, it works well, its easy to setup and manage, and any of my non-techie friends that became interested have liked it (or similar sites, like Feedly). RSS is just easy, and most sites I've looked at support it; heck, I've even contacted sites that didn't and they've got it running extremely quickly.

I kinda hate JF2 but I understand that other people use it, so if you have any ideas or concepts, open an issue or a PR! I'm also considering disassembling one of the major MF2 parsers in other language to see how it works and possibly port it to Rust
