Oh yes, it's going to be reborn from something I feared into a lovingly recrafted new process. I was planning on switching away from Astro’s RSS generation to using Granary anyway before this new post went up, so I can see how new entries look in the monocle preview and other tools while I get my sea legs with microformats.

When I added RSS to my setup I built it as a stand alone step. If I publish something I can go read it and check it and then manually push the RSS update, followed by the alert to seed the distribution services.
