  • A related issue that I have not yet solved is what to do if a post's slug has changed, which is hard since the URL for a post is considered a unique identifier. Sometimes people publish blog posts and change the slug (i.e. to fix a typo). If my reader already has an entry for a post with the original slug, it will create another entry for the post with the new slug.

  • Thinking out loud (so as to figure out exactly what I need to do): my reader would need to compare the titles/post contents of every item in a feed when it is polled with what is saved in the database, and make sure the database always contains the most recent information.

  • It seems not, but my reader only shows a preview of a post and links to the post itself so, in this case, where the first few words of the post (in place of the title) are unchanged, it doesn't matter:

  • There are services like that, too, if you want to delegate receiving webmentions to ^ Has a good API, too, so you can pull in webmentions and do whatever you'd like with them. I think there's some JS to dynamically display those directly. Others with static sites pull in those mentions and have it rebuild (parts of) their site to display them
