Yeah pages under your User: page are a great place to try things out. The initial page creation will show up in these logs, but if you want subsequent edits to be quiet and not show up here, you can check the "minor edit" box when you're editing. I do that often on my "sandbox" page, trying out new wiki templates and such

If nothing else, it helped me get a little more comfortable with the way the wiki works. I'm out of time for now, but I plan to go back and add in links.
