Yeah there is a baseline expectation that this place is logged so I think theres nothing wrong with it. I just honestly kinda urge you to write sentences like "I was trying to figure out iCal, and then I asked a group and a friendly gRegor (link to their website) answered some questions for me! I learned xyz things" rather than just reposting chat logs. its really more a interest/preference/style thing than necessary any politeness

I think a prose description of the issue and maybe summary of the others responding is probably more approachable for a reader. Can always link to the start of the chat logs if people want to read the full context
