[snarfed]: ran into an odd situation with a like from a GoToSocial instance. When I click through the bridgy link it ends up at a 404 page on the instance saying "GoToSocial only serves Public statuses via the web." https://fedi.emmajuettner.com/users/emma/liked/01M02E03Q41RGT9Z8ZT75Q3QRY Their timeline appears to be public, though I don't see a list of likes advertised.

I've now gated bridgy fed notifications from my site under a flag, and linked it to a new fed.brid.gy syndication target in micropub so that I can control that per post.

do you think you could take a look to see if your tag/hashtag parsing code in Bridgy Fed could possibly accidentally turn a string of all numbers into a number type which would likely show up wrong in the ActivityStream snippet sent to Mastodon?

[snarfed] follow-up on that post updating experience with Bridgy Fed and the two tags. This time I put two similar tags in the post for the original webmention/federation and same result. the hashtag with the _ worked, and Mastodon somehow didn't accept (or there's a weird parsing bug somewhere along the way) the tag with only numbers

*TL;DR:* Asked [snarfed] why my webmention reply to one of his posts (linked via his website, not via Bluesky/Mastodon) wasn't bridging over to Mastodon/Bluesky even though it showed up in my activity. Answer: Bridgy Fed generally only bridges replies to the same network the original post came from — a webmention reply doesn't get bridged to other networks unless the original post was also bridged, and that's best-effort even then. Only
