basically yes, though it does expect some structure, I have on my test import page. That is, because the importer currently is for my use. But I definitively intent to extend that. The profile page in ProFed can be read with the importer as well.

I provide a docker-compose deploy of my fork if anyones wants to test, my fork has a lot of new plugins and a lot of difference compared to upstream but my plan is to at least propose some of the real improvements I have made along the way to upstream

That's great! Testing has been a challenge for Omnibear too. I'm considering building a mini micropub server into the test code so I can write some true e2e tests. But it definitely helps to test against multiple servers.
