[snarfed] that was a hard earned lesson, and ironically is still "unpopular" with many JSON devs because they don't want to have to look for the first item in a list

The goal of me switching Syndication Links to Micropub is that it would work without Microformats, which some people find hard to address.

[indieweb.social/@janboddez] It’s darn hard to set up a somewhat user-friendly #indieweb service.Interoperability with some protocols requires you mix markup (i.e., microformats) with content. The idea behind it was “DRY,” like, cut out the “metacrap,” have your HTML be the single source of truth,... If you look into microformats, you need some additional classes so that the parser can find the information to pass to Twitter (or anywhere). That might be e-content or u-url or any one of a number of things. As I said, I have only my phone so it is hard to give better guidance.

capjamesg, how hard was it? were there explicit steps you took that could help others also do so?

This is part of why I have not pushed back hard on the microformats removal. Mastodon people are a lot less comfortable with indexing than bloggers were

https://www.joelonsoftware.com/2022/12/19/progress-on-the-block-protocol/ I really want to like the idea of the “Block Protocol” but that this entire post never once mentioned microformats makes it nearly impossible for me to take it seriously. A “protocol“ that doesn’t leverage or even mention prior art? Hard pass.

I'm continuing to merge those PRs. The main issue I see with this serial PR strategy is that each subsequent PR's diff contains all the past ones, so it's really difficult to review. There's no conflicts with main branch, so they can be merged, but it's just hard to tell what's actually changed in the individual PR.

without either of those (link to the h-entry with the problem, and/or markup from the h-entry with the problem), it's hard to verify whether implied u-url is at fault or not
