ok, I added "IndieWeb Example: {{t}} repaired a link in https://tantek.com/2010/031/t2/world-moving-to-html5 to use an Internet Archive version, noting in a parenthetical that the original link and its shortlink were found to 404 as of a more recent date, thus also implying the date of repair. The original post test including old shortlink is still viewable at the Twitter syndicated copy." to the "See Also" section of /link_repair https://indieweb.org/wiki/index.php?diff=111048&oldid=111046

link repair is the practice of repairing broken hyperlinks on your personal site, especially on older posts where the links were valid as of the time of the post but have stopped working since.

updated post with repaired link. that might be enough to start a stub page. I suspect others here occasionally repair links in their posts and it would be good to start to gather indieweb examples to see if there are any patterns we can generalize from

I decided against linking to an updated (where the link is now, was redirected to at some point) because that information was both not known at the time of the post, and can be derived if someone is really curious by navigating the provided Internet Archive copy

I am leaning towards "simple" replacement with the IA copy as near to the my post publication datetime as possible, with a parenthetical about when the original was found to be broken. Going to try that to see if it sticks

how do people like to repair links in old posts? like invisibly just updating them? or replacing with Internet Archive copy as of the time of your post? or some mix of both?

🐔 chicken is a type of post supported by idnoKnown, and were initially a proof of concept for post-type plugin development, but high levels of chicken interest in the community has driven further development https://indieweb.org/chicken
