Very disappointing, it actually provided a very valuable security function, until I discovered that a single false positive would be permanent and irrevocable. I just left a pretty irate review of a wordpress plugin.

copied the entire post into a text file and saved it on my hard drive. Which turned out to be the right move, as of course, once I quit the browser and restarted, WordPress had not actually saved a local copy. It's a good thing I'm wise to its ways.

I already got past the full "loss of newly authored content" today, as when Firefox did it's semi-weekly "I'm a web browser, so I'm going to stop connecting to any web servers until you restart" trick right after I finished writing but hadn't yet saved the post, I looked squarely at the WordPress message that said, "WordPress cannot connect to the server, saving a local copy in your browser" and said, "NOT TODAY, SATAN!" and
