My mind doesn’t want to visualise a single case where the b is still between the d and a in my example. All I can say is that with current documentation I would not be able to write any sorting code.

Essentially, it lets you fetch posts by "type," with date and count limits, and basic sorting.

Hmmm I would be okay with notifications being returned in the list of channels for information wise. I think the main issue is sorting. It seems strange to have notifications in the sorting mix

since there is a database column storing an integer used for sorting, that function swaps the integer with any of the other channels provided in the input

I don't mind using both formats and kinds simultaneously as it gives me some additional archive pages for sorting data and providing feeds. Generally I use the admin UI to hide the meta box for the Post Formats though.

BTW: another example of a video file that will not work in browser video elements is FLV. I suddenly thought of that while I was sorting and writing down my thoughts on the video thing.
