I'd ask in The Admin Bar. Someone is bound to have experience of it. But yeah hotlinking may well be barred on the host. It is probably server settings. It may be possible to override it with manual htaccess settings. An alternative that would probably work would be to automatically generate a plain page for every image as a wrapper and redirect to it when it's a non-embedded request? Something like that? setting. A good test would be to upload just any image elsewhere, not managed by WordPress, and see what happens. I did notice directory browsing was possible, even if the contents were hidden. That's not good practice. So I might question the hosting quality in general.
