@tdrayson++ Thanks... that's encouraging to hear. I'm coming from a dual background of WordPress (plus some other very small apps in just ordinary, no-framework PHP, and one project in SMARTY which was really annoying), and designing general database-driven apps. lots of CRUD. Laravel seems to have the high-level database abstraction covered well too, from what I've read so far.

I definitely think more people are moving from WordPress to Laravel for the PHP side of things. It's a natural progression, I feel, or at least it was for me. I didn't really want to just leave the PHP world, and I found I was hitting the limitations of what WordPress can and should be doing.

As someone who started on WordPress and soon became fascinated by coding and development, I've recently started using Laravel and Vue.js, and it has been a joy. For me, the nicest thing about Laravel is that everything seems well thought out and just works. There are so many handy built-in functions natively that you then don't have to worry about.

You’d probably do well to find an existing theme that comes close to what you want and ask for help tweaking it. Building a theme from scratch is a big project
