cupparex, you may also be interested in (or perhaps you already know about!) the #indieweb-wordpress channel which has a whole bunch of very helpful and sympathetic folks who are successfully using WordPress on their personal site

cupparex, you're right, WordPress makes this opaque unfortunately to the person using WordPress. This got worse I believe when WordPress started requiring scripting.

[tantek]: well i know my setting is to allow people to not make a choice and they'r free to scroll, but i don't knwo what wordpress actually does --- i jsut don't have that knowledge to understand that yet.

the thing to do about WordPress is file a bug on WordPress that WordPress MUST NOT create a cookie on the user's browser if all they do is visit the site and scroll or click around and browser posts for example.

I can tell you that going through onboarding has been insanely difficult for me.
