  • Like the "jump to content" or "skip navigation" links that became fashionable some time ago. I never liked it. If there's a user-driven need to skip navigation, and I have a <nav> element, then isn't it better for the user-agent to provide that functionality? They'll almost certain do a better job than any javascript I throw at the problem.

  • I have a plugin installed that saves everything I enter in a text area into a log, even javascript ones, but I don't like to depend on it, it's kind of a very last resort, it's pretty reliable but not 100%. At this point I'm battle tested enough to know, if I need to restart the browser, just open a text editor and manually save what I'm working on, never trust that the browser is doing what it says it's doing.

  • any good directory of websites that don't use javascript and minimal css or smth? I need to redo my genealogy/family tree website. There will be many subpages though so I need to be clever. Current one has javascript dropdown menus that are good for what they do but somehow there must be a way to be clean even if there are say 50 to 100 pages

  • javascript as a principle doesn't bother me, not even as a language (jank as it is), it's just the lack of optimizations for websites and tech that dont need to be as laggy as they are on old devices. I wish older tech wasn't seen as obsolete so fast, especially things like phones that barely change through the years

  • Hey I'm wondering what's the general consensus around using Javascript? I'm making a portfolio as a UX designer and animator, and it seems like I need Javascript here and there to get some nice interaction feedback. Maybe I'm wrong. But it seems like I'll need compromise here and there when my field of work is largely visual

  • I have a working html/css/javascript slideshow of static images but this would need to be dynamic. I have a python route to GET all image files from the list usercars.images. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find anything useful online.
