[manton] no opposition. Related, I don't think we've moved the official Webmention or Micropub repositories to the IndieWeb organization either right aaronpk? We do list them on https://spec.indieweb.org/ though

I believe that, and the subsequent submission of OpenSocial materials (and domain?) to the W3C Social Web WG (I.e. OpenSocial 2.5 was contributed by IBM as input for a "Social API") was the last gasp of OpenSocial. No one from OpenSocial showed up to the WG to actually make it work, which was probably a good thing as it had kind of gone off the complexity deepend by then. It's absence gave us the opportunity to conceive Micropub

[snarfed] I think activitypub-html-discovery is a related but orthogonal discovery problem (that doc does not mention OAuth). I believe the goal is to verify whether a Mastodon-specific OAuth flow would work with the link the user has provided. Nodeinfo sounds like the User Agent String for distributed social web servers (noting that's hosted on a diaspora named domain which is interesting).

this UX is common, so it made sense to design the Micropub protocol to accommodate it and thus enable implementations to meet UX expectations

From an indieweb perspective your website is your identity, so if you've got a top level representative h-card on your home page, theoretically a Micropub client could allow you to update that h-card p-name property and that should work

capjamesg sounds like you're asking for ActivityPub Outbox discovery, which is maybe a subset of the user-scenario? I.e. user-scenario "I want to subscribe to this site/profile!" -> enter URL -> do h-feed discovery, if found, use it, exit, else -> do feedfile discovery (JSONFeed, Atom, RSS, etc.), if found, use it, exit, else -> do a/link rel="author" type="application/activity+json" discovery, if found, use it as an ActivityPub user/outbox

micropub << Brainstorming: Consider both a 1.0.1 release that incorporates errata (with no new features), and a 1.1 update that incorporates popular micropub extensions, and at least those that [[MarsEdit]] requested in feedback.

might be worth starting to brainstorm which extensions meet that "bar" (whatever the bar is) for a Micropub 1.1

[manton] oh wow that's great to hear! Perhaps on the standards side then we need to incubate a Micropub 1.1 that builds-in those well-adopted extensions
